Why do we use your personal data?
We use your data to carry out some of our missions as a public institution, to be able to answer your questions as a socially insured person or as a health care provider and to make the web applications operational for health care providers. We carry out our missions in close consultation with our partners:

  • the health insurance funds;
  • the representatives of the professional health care providers: individual health care providers (doctors, physiotherapists, pharmacists, etc.) and institutions (hospitals, rest homes, etc.);
  • the representatives of trade unions and employers.


How do we protect your data?
As part of our missions, our partners and us process a large amount of personal data and we commit ourselves to complying with all the legislation applicable to the protection of privacy. Our information security management system guarantees the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all the data we process, in all business and support processes of our services.
Since June 2014, our information security management system has been certified according to international standard ISO27001.

What is the legal basis for using your personal data?
The legal basis for the use of your data in the context of the compulsory insurance for health care and disability is the coordinated law of 14 July 1994 on compulsory insurance for health care and benefits. A consolidated version of that law is available on the website of the Belgian Official Gazette.

What personal data do we process?
To answer your questions as a socially insured person, we process:

  • your personal data from the National Register and the BIS-register (name, address, etc.);
  •  your contact details.

To answer your questions as a health care provider and the questions regarding the web programs you have access to, we process:

  • your personal data from the National Register and the BIS-register (name, address, etc.);
  • by way of the Belgian Crossroads Bank for Social Security and Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (CBE number, etc.);
  • your contact details and financial information within the scope of our ProHealth application;
    your data relating to questions and payments in connection with accreditation, availability and/or on-call fees, the wheelchair rental system, etc.;
  • any information relating to other benefits or premiums for health care providers. 
     

With whom do we share your personal data?
We do not share your personal data, except on a legal basis as is the case with the following partners:

 
With which countries do we share your personal data?
Most of the foreign communications are carried out with countries belonging to the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA).
If we have to share your data with other countries, we will ensure, in the framework of bilateral agreements, that these countries provide sufficient guarantees pertaining to the protection of privacy. If applicable, we only provide your data in order to comply with legal or contractual obligations (e.g. health care abroad).

How long do we keep your personal data?
We only keep your personal data in a form that makes it possible to identify you and for as long as is necessary for the performance of our legal missions, for the processing of your applications or for granting certain rights or reimbursements.


What are your rights regarding the management of your personal data?
In carrying out our missions, we comply with the legislation. Within the limits of that legislation, you have the right to:

  • consult your data;
  • request a correction of your data;
  • request a restriction on the use of your data;
  • oppose the processing and transfer of your data.


To that end, you can contact the Data Protection Officer (see "Contacts" section at the bottom of the page). Always add a copy of the front and back of your identity card to your question.

Can you withdraw your consent to the use of your personal data?
If the processing of your data is based on your consent (e.g. when you subscribe to a newsletter), you can withdraw that consent at any time. However, you must take into account the legal obligations imposed on us to carry out our tasks and missions.

How to lodge a complaint in the event of a non-compliant use of your personal data?
If you suspect that your personal data are not processed in accordance with the applicable law, you may lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority.

Where do the personal data we process come from?

Your personal data come from:

  • the National Register;
  • the Belgian Crossroads Bank for Social Security or Crossroads Bank for Enterprises.


Your contact details come from:

  • yourself, by way of visiting our website or ProHealth application;
    As a health care provider, your payment details come from:
  • yourself, by way of our website,
  • yourself, by way of your bank.


Your data relating to the exercise of rights come from:

  • the health insurance funds or other public institutions.
     

(Im)personal data that are collected automatically

 We may collect anonymous or aggregated (im)personal information, such as: 

  • the browser version or IP address; 
  • the operating system you are using; 
  • the domain name of the website with which you visit to this webiste.
